Werrington Carnival – A day of Sunshine, Celebration and Fun

The streets of Werrington Village came alive on Saturday 21st June, as the sunshine and community spirit filled the streets for the much-loved Werrington Carnival—a popular community event proudly supported by Insurewise for many years.

Families, friends and neighbours of all ages gathered to join the vibrant procession through the village, making their way to the school playing fields where the heart of the celebration continued with a variety of activities and entertainment.

Leading the parade was none other than Bunting Bear, the Werrington Carnival mascot, waving to crowds from the Insurewise car leading the procession through the village. His appearance was met with cheers and smiles from onlookers lining the streets.

First held in 1969, when just the local Scouts and Guides took part, the Werrington Carnival has grown into a major community highlight, drawing crowds from across Werrington and beyond. This annual event is organised by the Werrington Scouts and Guides alongside a team of dedicated volunteers and all the funds raised on the day by sponsors, visitors and donations are invested back into the group.

Neil McCulloch, Managing Director of Insurewise, said “I believe it’s important that businesses support their local communities, helping to foster wellbeing and encourage economic growth. I still remember taking part in the carnival as a young boy, walking proudly through the streets as people waved and cheered. Seeing that same spirit alive today, especially with Bunting Bear leading the way, was amazing.”

A spokesperson from the Werrington Scout & Guide Committee added “We’d like to thank everyone who helped make the carnival a great success – our committee, volunteers, sponsors, stallholders, Scout and Guide leaders, parents, and all those who donated items or offered their time.

We’d also like to add a big shout-out to Neil at Insurewise and Bunting Bear for leading the parade, and to our local pubs for keeping everyone refreshed. Special thanks to the Spalding Marching Ambassador Band for bringing music and entertainment to the procession. Every penny raised helps us provide a safe and supportive environment where young people in Werrington can learn new skills and make lifelong Scouting and Guiding memories.”

As the day drew to a close, the message from organisers and attendees alike was clear:

“Werrington, you have done yourself proud!”

Mark your calendars—Werrington Carnival 2026 which promises to be even bigger and better. Let’s hope for sun shines once again as the village comes together to celebrate all that makes this community so special.
