Lock that door!

There’s been a marked increase in opportunistic thefts over recent weeks that could, have been avoided.

Thieves are checking for unlocked doors and stealing money, bank cards, laptops, tools, jewellery and other valuable items during daytime hours and at night.

To prevent thefts:

  • Always close and lock doors – even if your only slipping out for a few minutes, spending time in the garden, or filling up your vehicle on the forecourt.  It only takes a few seconds for thieves to get in via open or unlocked doors.
  • Close windows and other access points to your vehicle or property – during the hot weather people often leave windows open to cool down the air.  Open windows are an ideal way for a thief to gain easy access your car or property with the minimum of effort.
  • Set your alarms – always set your car or home alarm – even if you’re only leaving it for a few minutes
  • Secure items – don’t forget to secure items such as roof racks and boxes, tools and other items that aren’t fixed to your vehicle.

  • Don’t leave vehicle windows open

It only takes a few seconds for a thief to gain access to your home or vehicle and steal your valuables, often things that you cherish that cannot be replaced.

So, always take precautions to make sure you’re not the target of an unwanted visitor!

Don’t be a victim of crime.
