Community Award for Insurewise’s MD

In June 2023 our Managing Director, Neil McCulloch, received a special Award  from the Werrington Neighbourhood Council.

The nomination for the Award was made in recognition of Neil’s contribution to the local community and beyond over many years including supporting the annual Werrington Village Carnival, Scarecrow Trail and Village show, sponsorship of Peterborough Rugby Union FC and City of Peterborough Hockey Club, his personal support of local sporting heroes, Shanwayne Stevens (a leading member of Jamaica’s Bobsleigh Team in the 2022 Winter Olympic games) and up-and-coming Rugby star Ethan Manning, who currently plays for Peterborough RUFC and his contribution as a Trustee for Soke Education Trust, a multi-academy trust for 5 local primary schools.

Neil and Insurewise also support the Annual Carols on the Green, a fantastic community event, that attracts adults and children from across the community to get together and celebrate Christmas.

Neil has supported the popular Werrington Scarecrow Trail for a number of years.
Local sporting hero, Shanwayne Stephens and his team, taking part in the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Neil, who was born at home in Werrington Village, has lived in the area most of his life attending the local schools before launching his career in Insurance in 1981 before starting up his own business, Insurewise, in 1993.  He has had a long-standing affinity with the community over the years, on both a personal and business level.

Neil’s father, Murdoch McCulloch, played for Peterborough United when he first moved down from Scotland in 1951 and Neil and his brothers Murdoch and Malcolm, played for Peterborough Rugby Union FC at various levels until they hung up their boots.  Neil is a firm advocate of supporting the local community at different levels from both a business and personal perspective.

Neil said, “It was a great honour to be nominated for this Award in recognition of the contribution I’ve made to the local community.  Werrington is a very special place for me. Not only because Insurewise Limited’s offices are based here, but it is also where I grew up and also my family have grown up in Werrington. I’m very fortunate to live and work in an area where there is a lovely community spirit and it is a pleasure and honour to be a part of helping people enjoy things that make a difference to their mental and physical wellbeing and support the things that are important to them.”
